Tina Kinkead

Tina Kinkead grew up in southern California, then attended Gilbert High School in Arizona. While in high school Tina was named Arizona’s “Player of the Year” and went on to play Division 1 volleyball at Santa Clara University. During her time at Santa Clara, her team won the West Coast Conference and went to the NCAA Tournament. Tina received her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Santa Clara. She went on to National University where she got her teaching credential in Health and Physical Education. Tina continued her schooling at San Diego State University where she earned her Master of Arts Degree in Sports Psychology. She authored her master’s thesis on “how coaching styles affect the self-perceptions of high school athletes”. She also served as the sport psychology consultant for the SDSU Men’s Volleyball team, and went on to National University where she received her teaching credential in Health and Physical Education.

Tina was Santa Clara Men’s Head Volleyball Coach and has also worked as the Assistant Women’s Coach at Creighton University and Point Loma Nazarene University. For 18 years, Tina has coached at various clubs in Southern California, most recently 7 years at Coast VBC. Tina has also coached high school volleyball at Cathedral Catholic (formerly USDHS), Vista High School, La Jolla High School, and currently The Bishop’s School. At the high school level her Varsity teams have made it to the CIF SD section Semi-Finals five out of the six years she coached High School.

Tina met her husband at Santa Clara University and they have 3 children.

Tina has been working the La Jolla Volleyball summer beach camps for the past two summers and seems to have an endless supply of creative drills for our beach campers, along with her patience, energy and many years of coaching experience… Tina will be working with our 14-Travel team as well as our 10U teams.
